Inspired by the spirit of TED's mission, "ideas worth spreading," we launched the project, TEDxSeeds, in the hope to share Japanese ideas to the world. The word "Seeds" represents our willingness to provide a common ground where seeds of ideas from Japan and those from the other parts of the world, old or new, will be shared and connected to create new seeds for our future.
Our first conference, TEDxSeeds 2009 was held in collaboration with speakers who are actively working on a daily basis, making significant achievements at various places as “Japanese” seeds of the 21st century, beyond the confines of philosophy, art, and technology, spreading communication impetuously, yet in a casual manner, under the domestic and international climate.
May our mere seeds of hope eventually bear fruit in Japan, and before long, grow luxuriantly across the globe.

What is TEDx?
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is call TEDx (place), where x=independently organized TED event. At our TEDx (place) event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
You can learn more about the TEDx program here.
What is TED?
TED is a small nonprofit devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading. It started out (in 1984) as a conference bringing together people from three worlds: Technology, Entertainment, Design. Since then its scope has become ever broader. Along with the annual TED Conference in Long Beach, California, and the TEDGlobal conference in Oxford UK, TED includes the award-winning TEDTalks video site, the Open Translation Program, the new TEDx community program, this year’s TEDIndia Conference and the annual TED Prize.
